Measurement Guide

Accurate measurements are the foundation of a perfect fit. This guide explains what to measure and how — for every traditional garment on Yanggah. All measurements are in inches (in).

Before You Measure

  • • Use a soft fabric tape measure, not a rigid ruler.
  • • Stand straight with your arms relaxed at your sides.
  • • Measure over light, close-fitting clothing or directly on skin — not over thick layers.
  • • Keep the tape snug but not tight; you should be able to slip two fingers underneath.
  • • Ask someone to help for back measurements and shoulder width.
  • • If between two sizes, choose the larger size for traditional wear — Nigerian fashion is designed with graceful drape and room to move.

Ordering Fabric by the Yard

Fabric listings on Yanggah are priced by yardage, not by the piece. Here is how it works:

  • Base price and base yardage — each fabric listing shows a price tied to a specific number of yards (e.g. £95 for 4 yards). This is the vendor's starting point.
  • Per-yard adjustment — the vendor sets a fixed rate per yard (e.g. ±£10/yd). Ordering more yards increases the price; ordering fewer yards reduces it by the same rate.
  • Minimum yardage — each vendor sets a minimum number of yards you can order (default is 3 yards). You cannot go below this minimum.
  • Live price preview — as you move the yards selector on the product page, the price updates immediately so you always see the exact amount before adding to cart.
  • Vendor confirmation — the number of yards you ordered is shown to the vendor in their order dashboard so they know exactly how much fabric to cut and dispatch.
Example: A fabric listed at £95 for 4 yards with a ±£10/yd rate. Selecting 3 yards → £85  ·  Selecting 6 yards → £115.
