Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: May 19, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all buyers, vendors, and visitors on YANGGAH. It supplements our Terms of Service and Vendor Terms. Where this AUP conflicts with the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service prevails.
Prohibited Products
The following items may not be listed, sold, or promoted on YANGGAH:
- Counterfeits and replicas: items falsely representing a designer brand or copying a trade mark without authorisation.
- Stolen goods: items obtained through theft or receiving stolen property.
- Prohibited materials: items made from endangered species, ivory, protected wildlife, or other materials banned by applicable law (e.g. CITES-listed materials).
- Hazardous items: clothing or accessories treated with prohibited chemicals, dyes, or finishes that do not meet safety standards for the destination country.
- Weapons or weapon components: regardless of form or material.
- Offensive or hate-driven designs: items that promote hatred, discrimination, or violence based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
- Misleadingly labelled goods: items described as hand-made, bespoke, or made in a specific location when they are not.
If you believe a listing violates these rules, use the "Report this listing" link on any product page or email dmca@yanggah.com.
Content Standards
All content uploaded to YANGGAH, including product photos, descriptions, store bios, and messages, must comply with the following:
- Ownership: you must own or have a valid licence for all images and text you upload. Uploading photography, patterns, or copy belonging to another person or brand without authorisation is prohibited.
- Accuracy: product listings must accurately represent the item. Prices, materials, sizes, country of origin, and customisation options must be correct.
- No spam or keyword stuffing: descriptions must describe the actual product and not be padded with unrelated keywords or competitor brand names.
- No adult content: explicit sexual imagery is not permitted on any public-facing listing.
- No misrepresentation of identity: impersonating another vendor, buyer, or public figure is prohibited.
Cultural Content Standards
YANGGAH was built to celebrate and elevate African fashion and the designers who create it. We take cultural integrity seriously. The following standards apply to all content on the platform:
- Authenticity: if you describe a garment as being from a specific cultural tradition (e.g. Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Kente, Aso Oke), the description must be accurate. Misrepresenting cultural origin misleads buyers and disrespects the communities whose heritage is being referenced.
- No cultural mockery: content that parodies, trivialises, or demeans traditional African dress, symbols, or practices is prohibited.
- Sacred symbols: symbols or regalia that hold religious or ceremonial significance should be used respectfully and only where the vendor has a genuine cultural connection. If in doubt, consult the communities concerned.
- Inclusive representation: campaign imagery and styling should represent the diversity of African heritage. Imagery that stereotypes or caricatures any ethnic group is not permitted.
If you believe a listing misuses cultural elements, use the "Report this listing" link on the product page or email hello@yanggah.com.
Platform Conduct
- Do not attempt to take transactions off-platform to avoid the escrow system or platform fees.
- Do not create multiple accounts to circumvent suspensions, listing caps, or review restrictions.
- Do not manipulate reviews, including offering incentives for positive reviews or submitting fake reviews for your own or a competitor's store.
- Do not scrape, harvest, or systematically copy data from YANGGAH without written permission.
Enforcement
Violations of this AUP may result in: listing removal, warning, temporary suspension of messaging or selling privileges, account suspension, or permanent ban, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation. Repeated or serious violations may also be referred to relevant legal authorities.
YANGGAH reserves the right to remove any content or account that violates this AUP without prior notice.
